About the role

Every day, tens of millions of people come to Roblox to explore, create, play, learn, and connect with friends in 3D immersive digital experiences– all created by our global community of developers and creators.

At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there.

A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.

As Director, Law Enforcement & Critical Harms Operations, you’ll lead three key verticals within Roblox Safety Operations:

  • Law Enforcement Operations: the operational backbone of Roblox’s law enforcement collaboration, responsible for the scaled review and processing of global law enforcement requests seeking the disclosure of Roblox account records.
  • Critical Harms Investigations & Incident Management: the team responsible for comprehensively investigating, managing, and working across the company to mitigate Roblox’s highest-risk safety incidents.
  • Critical Harms Product Support: the team responsible for collaborating with Product, Engineering, and other internal partners to combat critical platform harms, including via scaled operations responding to critical harms abuse reports and proactive reporting to law enforcement.

The ideal candidate will be a versatile, self-driven, team-player who enjoys context-switching across high-profile initiatives, and has an exceptional safety operations track record. Through your work, you’ll become an expert in Roblox’s safety practices, advance our tooling and investigative capabilities, and work across a variety of teams to surface, analyze, and ultimately disrupt threat actors.

Please note: This role will require reviewing graphic, controversial, and offensive content in accordance with Roblox’s handling policies. This role will also require On-Call support during weekends and holidays.

You’ll report to the Senior Director, Moderation, Intelligence & Law Enforcement Operations. This full-time, hybrid position is located at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA

You Will:

  • Own the above-referenced verticals, including people management and coaching, and delivering on aggressive operational metrics like SLA and quality.
  • Lead the company’s response to safety incidents by coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders, providing real-time communications to leadership, and driving post hoc Root Cause Analyses.
  • Seek to understand and empathetically respond to law enforcement concerns, while helping internally codify and scale resultant learnings.
  • Partner with Legal, Public Policy, and other teams to implement new legal/regulatory requirements in operational workflows.
  • Partner with Engineering teams to scope, test, and launch enhanced internal compliance and investigations tooling.
  • Collaborate and build strong internal relationships across our Legal & Advocacy, Safety, Product, and Communications teams (among others) to help address law enforcement emergencies, platform safety escalations, and comprehensive Roblox undertakings.
  • Forge a deep subject-matter expertise of Roblox’s internal and external safety practices, so as to identify, advocate for, and help implement strategic safety enhancements.

You Have:

  • 10+ years of leading exceptional safety operations in law enforcement, intelligence, government, or trust and safety.
  • Deep familiarity with U.S. and non-U.S. law enforcement response frameworks, e.g., U.S. Stored Communications Act, CLOUD Act, emergency disclosures, and cross-border constraints.
  • Experience owning and successfully leading others in high-pressure, sensitive, and complex investigations.
  • Proven track record managing high-volume operations queues, and building standard operating procedures, training programs, QA frameworks, and operational dashboards.
  • Subject-matter expertise in child safety laws, policies, and considerations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Agility to navigate ambiguity, resilience to overcome obstacles, and the internal drive to concurrently manage multiple high-profile, time-sensitive initiatives in a dynamic environment.
  • Unwavering integrity, collegiality, and grit.
