About the role

Company Profile:

Our client was founded to provide high quality professional & personalized tax preparation, accounting and bookkeeping services for individuals, businesses, and non-profits at reasonable rates. The company is a very fast-growing medium-sized accounting firm, allowing them to better serve individual business needs while helping clients save time and money. They serve clients throughout the United States, where demand for highly skilled Philippines-based accounting professionals continues to grow rapidly.

The company has maintained a Philippines accounting team for approximately 5 years and has consistently expanded its PH headcount year after year. The current Philippines team is nearing 30 professionals, and as the business continues to grow, they anticipate further long-term investment and expansion of their Philippines team into the future.

Our client’s core values are centered around family, long-term career positioning, and professional development. As they continue expanding their PH accounting team, employees will have opportunities to take on increasing levels of responsibility, and participate in comprehensive training initiatives

They are reliable and responsive to clients’ U.S. tax and accounting needs as businesses and organizations evolve through various operational and financial changes. Their customized service approach allows clients to better control costs while receiving the appropriate level of professional engagement and support needed to preserve and strengthen the value of their businesses.

The company has a growing client base of over 1,500+ U.S. business clients and 2,000+ individual tax clients. With decades of experience, the company’s dedication to hard work has earned the respect of the business, individual, and financial community. They believe this reputation is a direct reflection of the quality, responsiveness, and professionalism of their team.

Finally, the company takes its responsibility to clients very seriously. Their commitment to every client includes delivering work accurately, professionally, and with the utmost integrity.

This is a great opportunity to join a family-oriented company that treats employees equally and invests meaningfully in their professional growth. Significant support and development will be provided across all areas of U.S. taxation and accounting, with clear opportunities to progress into more senior and rewarding responsibilities over time. As the PH accounting team continues to expand, you will also have the unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact and help shape the future direction of the team.

Overall purpose and responsibilities of the role:

The Director, US Tax & Accounting (title subject to discussion during calibration) will be responsible for preparing and reviewing standard US tax returns, including individual (1040), partnership (1065), S-Corporation (1120-S), and C-Corporation (1120) returns. The role also involves managing client relationships, providing tax compliance support, using QuickBooks for accounting-related tasks, and training junior staff. Experience with estate tax (1041), nonprofit tax (990), and employee benefit plan returns (5500) is an advantage but not required, and candidates may use any established tax software. The ideal candidate is a developing US tax professional with a solid technical foundation who is ready to take on greater responsibility and grow into a leadership role. This is a development hire, with opportunities to take on broader strategic and firm leadership responsibilities over time rather than requiring director- or partner-level experience from day one.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manages professional accounting and bookkeeping services for business owners.
  • Manages financial records, transactions, entries, payments and reporting primarily using QuickBooks.
  • Provides light oversight of bookkeeping and QuickBooks-related activities, with the primary focus on tax services rather than day-to-day bookkeeping.

Firm Support

  • Serves as a firm Tax Partner and serves as primary point of contact.
  • Manages client relationships and support staff.
  • Acts as a trusted year-round advisor to clients, providing tax compliance guidance and advisory support beyond the annual tax season.

  • Ability to have a significant voice in shaping the firm's future as the role grows.
  • Advises business owners on tax compliance, financial records and other matters as needed.

  • Minimum of 5 years of US tax experience.
  • Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing all required US tax return types, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120S. Experience across all four return types is essential.
  • Must be willing and able to prepare tax returns personally, not solely review or delegate deliverables.
  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Must be comfortable serving as the primary client point of contact, managing client relationships, negotiating fees, resolving service issues, and providing tax and business advisory guidance beyond tax preparation.
  • Ability to advise clients on matters such as LLC versus partnership structuring and entity location decisions.

  • Technology-savvy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

  • Entrepreneurial, adaptable, and growth-oriented, with a desire to help shape and build the organization.
  • Interested in a long-term commitment to the firm and growing into broader leadership responsibilities.
