About the role

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

The Europe Operations team is accountable for service delivery and eliminating supply blockers to meet demand, working closely with technical program managers, facility engineers, and site operations leaders dedicated to building and sustaining the world's most advanced autonomous fleet infrastructure. We bridge physical engineering, power grid delivery, and software tooling to ensure Waymo's fleet operates safely, efficiently and continuously at global scale.

In this hybrid role, you will report to the Director of Operations, Head of Europe Operations.

You will:

  • Orchestrate European Site & Infrastructure Enablement: Lead the end-to-end multi-country program execution for new facility bring-up, high-voltage EV charging grid interconnections, and tech deployment across European hubs, ensuring infrastructure resilience and readiness for multi-market autonomous fleet operations.
  • Drive Scalable Automation & Process Architecture: Standardize depot workflows across European facilities enabling scale & fleet growth, using continuous improvement principles, tracking mitigations, and removing blockers for scale
  • Complex Program Management: Establish and enforce a unified framework for rider-only operations, driving decisions to unlock all types of infra required to deliver service, including parking, charging, pit-stops, service centers and testing locations.
  • Executive Vendor & Strategic Supplier Governance: Establish strategic new and existing partner frameworks and requirements across Europe to deliver high-performing SLA adherence, CapEx efficiencies, and continuous service delivery.
  • Build High-Impact Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as the strategic bridge between Facilities, Engineering and Product leadership and local European field teams, aligning international program goals with technical roadmap requirements and regional operational realities.
  • Optimize Multi-Country CapEx/OpEx Portfolios: Lead multi-million Euro infrastructure and technology budgets, establishing resource allocation models, cost-efficiency benchmarks, and financial governance to ensure European market expansion meets strategic financial targets.

You have:

  • 10+ years of experience leading complex programs, technology operations, or infra-structure/industrial program management across multiple facilities, including multi-country European expansion in transportation or other operating fields/automated logistics.
  • Proven track record as a senior technical, program management or strategy involving infrastructure, real estate bring-up, or large-scale technical operations across European regulatory jurisdictions (e.g., UK, Germany, Spain, France).
  • Advanced expertise in data-driven operations management, using large sets of data to drive decision making, business intelligence, and advanced metrics to track multi-site throughput, charger utilization rates, and operational resilience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing multi-facility Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and crisis recovery frameworks across high-demand critical facilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Operations, or equivalent practical experience (Master's/MBA or Six Sigma Black Belt preferred).
  • Exceptional communication and executive stakeholder management skills with proven ability to influence matrixed cross-functional teams and external regulatory/utility entities.
  • Ability to travel within the EU up to 40% of the time.

We prefer:

  • Autonomous Mobility & EV Infrastructure Domain Expertise: Deep familiarity with AV fleet operations, or ride-hailing support systems.
  • Cross-Border Regulatory Leadership: Hands-on experience navigating EU/UK transportation frameworks, municipal zoning, and high-voltage electrical grid interconnections with national utility providers.
  • International Program Scaling: Demonstrated success scaling operational footprints from initial pilot programs to multi-city commercial operations across diverse language and legal environments.
  • Systems Engineering & Automation Integration: Experience specifying, deploying, and validating programmatic software tools and automation systems inside physical depot environments.
  • Fluency in European Languages: Professional fluency in German, Spanish, French or other western European languages in addition to English is a strong advantage.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Certification.

Travel:

  • Up to 40% of travel
