About the role

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

Waymo's Supply Chain and Manufacturing teams are making the technology of the future a reality. We handle all production processes and supplier development strategies: from contracts and purchasing, to designs for improved manufacturing, through quality control and delivery. We collaborate actively with Waymo engineering teams as well as external suppliers and partners to make sure everything is built to spec and delivered on time to meet the rising demands of our business.

This role follows a hybrid work schedule and you will report to the Head of Vehicle/SDS Supply Planning & Materials Ops.

  • Lead Executive S&OP Cycles: Facilitate cross-functional Sales & Operations Planning across Hardware to reconcile variances, manage working capital, and build executive consensus on build/allocation trade-offs.
  • Standing Up an Internal "System-of-Record": Define requirements for and partner with engineering/data teams to stand up foundational internal planning systems. Leverage AI-assisted tools, scripting, and automated models to automate repetitive planning workflows.
  • Factory-to-Market AV Distribution: Establish and scale new operational planning capabilities for autonomous vehicle distribution globally aligned dynamically with city-level demand.
  • Sensors Operational Procurement Ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of planning, allocation and forward and reverse distribution workflows for the current generation of sensors and lead cross-functional partners in the strategic design, rollout, and optimization of distribution channels for future generation sensors.

You have:

  • BA/BS degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Business, Data Analytics, or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven work experience as a Demand Planner and across end-to-end supply chain functions.
  • Solid understanding of inventory management practices, procurement, allocation, and forecasting procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into high-level analysis
  • Proven experience utilizing AI/ML tools, advanced predictive models, or automated forecasting algorithms to enhance demand sensing, scenario simulation, and planning accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including strong presentation abilities.

We prefer:

  • Master’s degree or MBA.
  • Direct experience in hardware technology, autonomous vehicles, robotics, or complex consumer electronics manufacturing.
  • In-depth knowledge of MRP/ERP architectures, inventory optimization practices (buffer sizing, safety stock), and engineering lifecycle/scrap management for proprietary hardware
